Adopt a Cattle Dog / Hound / Mixed (short coat)

Steel Magnolia is a very intelligent, 2 year old, 33 pound girl that has a soft side as well as a rough and tumble side to her.  This Cattle Dog/Hound mix is very high energy and needs to be able to run and play to burn it all off every day.  If we have to describe this girl in human terms we would say that she will always try to be the “top dog” and ring leader when other dogs are around…no matter how big or small.  She would not be a cat’s best friend, so we don’t suggest a home with a cat.  The things she loves in life is WATER; playing in water is her passion and she loves to play with rope toys or any toy that she can play a good game of tug with; dog or human.  Once she winds down she loves to snuggle and get her chest rubbed.  She is full of love and kisses and we see her being a dog that will be a great companion for a single man or woman who wants to go for hikes, trail adventures, runs in the park or just play long and hard in the backyard.  She would be a great dog that does agility or fly ball.  She is working on her manners and we are curbing her attention getting methods of play nipping, which is a very natural thing with young untrained dogs.  She needs a strong leader to help direct her intelligence and energy and to show her how to ramp it down when wound up at times.  Her foster mom has great methods for this that we can share.  Steel Magnolia is a work in progress as we all are…humans and dogs alike.  She is a flower unfolding one petal at a time.
